Makalösa Micke
Foreword

Michael B Tretow, often called Micke, a comic studio genius and sound engineering wizard with a creative soul. Best known for having recorded all of ABBA's albums, except Voyage.

But Micke did so much more; he created jingles, radio signatures and twisted sketches with his own sound effects and funny voices. Micke was also a talented musician and composer himself.
In 2001, Micke suffered a stroke that resulted in memory loss. In the spring of 2025, he died at the age of 80.

This book tells Micke's early history and career from his youth in Norrköping and his own amateur recordings, to professional studio work, where the iconic ABBA sound was created.
Micke also worked with many other artists, not least during the early years at Metronome Studio where he recorded a variety of music genres and learned the basics of sound engineering.

As a freelancer and his own studio, Micke created several memorable projects and recordings, not least "Den makalosa manicken" from 1986 which just went on and on...
Micke was undoubtedly a unique and joyful person, known for his creativity and ability to entertain. Several anecdotes and other fun facts that Micke had for himself are told by others in the book. The book will hopefully also spread some technical knowledge about Micke's work in the studio.

The book is richly illustrated with photos from both his youth and studio pictures from more recent times. The book ends with a discography with all the famous recordings that Micke made.
